Funsters
Organized 1961 |
Our primary purpose is to promote fun and laughter to people of all ages! The trademark of our Funsters Unit is the Paddy Wagon, and our members play the roles of both Keystone Kops and Clowns. The Sphinx Funsters unit is available for Parades, Walk-arounds, Hospital Visitations, and any other events where our zany and madcap appearance can add to the general enjoyment and merriment of an event.
As members of Sphinx Shriners, we help support the network of Shriners Children's facilities that provide critical medical attention to needy children who are under the eighteen years of age, regardless of the families’ ability to pay. These children receive innovative medical care for burn, orthopedic, and spinal cord injuries. Shriners Children's Boston was the first in the nation, in conjunction with Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, to develop artificial skin.
The net proceeds we raise from each event is donated to Shriners Children's, the Transportation Fund (which provides hospital transportation free of charge to needy families and children), and the Sneaker Fund. Monies received in the Sneaker Fund go to burns research at Shriners Children's.
